1) Keep it simple!
Get a nice ring (diamond, her favorite precious stone, or simply a classy gold band), pack it lovingly in a box, and write from your heart.
What? Heart only beats for her? No poetry? Well try the lines below. You can work on it. Add to it, praise her more, point out her unique characteristics (need not be a good one), be even more lovey-dovey (mushier).
What ever you think she would like to hear. After all you want to hear an emphatic 'YES' from her.
Yes don't reduce the poem. It is as short as it gets. Any shorter and it's a telegram.
There comes a special person in every man's life,
With whom he feels complete,
And strong, and proud, and happy,
You are that person, my love,
Will you be mine forever?
2) Telegram
This will need the assistance of a friend or some acquaintance who doesn't know her.
He would have to dress up as a courier/mail man and present her with a telegram/letter and read it out.
You could make it sound very official or plain direct.
"Ms. So-and-so, you are officially informed that Mr. _______ has sent you a legal notice intimating you that you happen to be the love of his life. He has no intention of letting you be away from his sight even more one moment and therefore asks you to reply to this legal notice.
Would you be like to be married to me, and put up with exaggerated flattery, praise and tender loving care for the rest of your life. Please reply immediately to this appeal for love."
You could be listening to this conversation near-by. You could pop up and present her the engagement ring or flee to a remote location depending on her response.
