Why is platinum's purity of special significance?
Two reasons. One is relating to your skin.. This metal is hypoallergenic and resists tarnish, making it easy for people with sensitive skin to use.
And the second reason is that platinum's purity makes it one of the toughest and most long-lasting metals in the world.
Platinum is sometimes described as the purest, or the most precious metal. But this is a definite exaggeration. The price of pure platinum is usually higher than gold, but not always; therefore the claim that platinum is the most precious metal is a bit of hype.
Also rhodium is frequently double the price of platinum. Hence Platinum cannot claim to be the most expensive metal.
